Yes,yes,yes! I've been waiting for Dave to do this again...two brilliant runs by DDQ and Keystone were documented on Greenleaf back in the day; they were groundbreaking...recorded and released within 24 hours for each set...they were stellar performances and I play them again and again. With absolutely no chance of ever being there, this is the closest i'll ever be to 'being there'...so excited I may need to lay down in a darkened room for a while!

It's almost hard to believe there's any space for Tim to fit in when they play this stuff as a duo! The magical uber-complex counterpoint flowing from and resolving to the killer tunes has a similar feel to the full band Berne but these are clarifying in their complexity - you can understand all the moving parts on the same level. Also perhaps the best showcase of Mr Mitchell's solo skills I've heard - he's fully in his element!

Thanks to Laurie Pepper for a great Christmas present! Not surprisingly, the highlight is Art's ballad feature, (Somewhere) Over The Rainbow, but everybody plays well throughout. Zoot really shines on the surprisingly uptempo Girl From Ipanema. He should have been recorded live more often. He always brought a little extra when spurred on by another top saxophonist, and who better to spur him on than Art Pepper? Great recording quality too.
